I’m Back … Sort Of … (2024)

After taking a few years to reflect and go through an accident which resulted in me having to practically relearn how to play, I am back, sort of.

When I put this site on hold, I didn’t know how long for. All I knew, is that I needed time to find my way back to music after sort of falling out of love with music. For the past 6 months, I have started to enjoy music again, albeit, differently. In order to understand what has happened while this site was on hold and if you don’t follow me on Instagram, let me explain.

In 2021, I played a gig and enjoyed it tremendously (see other blog post). Since then, I’ve done another one and there might be more in store.

In 2022, I had a pretty bad accident and broke my arm at a spot that was pretty devastating. In 2023, I spent the year relearning how to play and getting used to living with the permanent outcome of the accident.

However, perhaps more devastating than the above, is the fact that my hearing continues to deteriorate. I am unable to hear half steps (semi-tones) properly. I still do ok with other intervals, but this isn’t particularly good. This led to a period of depression over the last couple of years.

I changed careers in 2020, but the nagging feeling within has never let up.  The need to return to doing something music related full-time is calling me more, but I just don’t know where this will lead me just yet. However, I remain optimistic that something will come along that will make me want to return to music related endeavors on the daily.

So for now, I am reopening my site. I don’t know how often I will post new blog posts, but something will change over the next year.

Oh and Instagram is still probably the best way to follow what I’m up to.

Stay safe and keep smiling!

Jose
