“All good things must come to an end”
After two years with Kitarakellari, it is time to bid farewell. I left a week ago. Initially, I wasn’t going to write about my departure, but then I decided that I probably should write something in my blog since a pretty big part of my life over the past two years has come to an end.
In the last two years, I taught 272 lessons at Kitarakellari. That isn’t a fantastic figure, but it isn’t terrible either.
Honestly, I felt it was time to do something else. The time I spent at the shop ended up consuming so much of my time that I had started to feel trapped. Not to mention that there really isn’t much of a career path in a company where there are only two employees. However, the final nail in the coffin was that I felt under appreciated. I know what I’m worth and I guess my employer just didn’t feel the same way.
Even though it might sound like I have a chip on my shoulder, I don’t. I wish Tim all the success in the world and hope that the shop will do better without me. I know that I was a financial burden on the company and part of the reason I exited was to make sure that his company can survive.
What’s next?
I will miss teaching my students, as always. For the time being, I am not taking on new students. This is a different kind of teaching break from the one I took 2015-2017. Back then I was dealing with serious burn out. I got help and I have come through.
I need to take a break from teaching so that if I come back to it one day, I can embrace it again. I love teaching, but I also need to continue to learn myself and progress.
As I alluded in my previous blog post, I will also do a lot more writing.
Now that I am a free agent again, I can work on my YouTube channel.
Chords of the Day will be back. I’ve been saying that for two years, but I really mean it this time.
I am looking for new full-time opportunities. I can’t reveal much yet but the pieces on the chess board are moving nicely.
