OVERVIEW :

This is the 12th studio album from Irish pop/rock legends, U2.  Their career has spanned over three decades and they have won many awards over the course of their career.

This latest album from the Celtic foursome is pretty much what one would expect sonically speaking. The formula remains the same. Lots of mellow stuff here for those who like that side of U2.

Honestly, I didn’t really dig this album as a whole. There are some very cool moments, but I would just buy single tracks instead of the whole thing.

HIGHLIGHTS :

Moment of Surrender, Stand Up Comedy, Get on Your Boots

PLAY BY PLAY

Track 1 – No Line on the Horizon
This track failed to grab my attention. For an opening and title track, I found this to be a weak track.

Track 2 – Magnificent
This one offered a little more oomph than the previous track. I really like the bass lines in this track.

Track 3 – Moment of Surrender
Very pretty and mellow. I like the chord progression a lot and how the melody weaves through it. It also has a pretty sweet guitar solo.

Track 4 – Unknown Caller
I didn’t like this song at all. Boring.

Track 5 – I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight
Cool track.

Track 6 – Get on Your Boots
Very cool! This album definitely needed an uptempo track. Good fuzz tones.

Track 7 – Stand Up Comedy
This song has a really good groove.

Track 8 – Fez – Being Born
Perhaps my least favorite on the album.

Track 9 – White as Snow
Boring.

Track 10 – Breathe
Interesting track.

Track 11 – Cedars of Lebanon
Something about this song just doesn’t do it for me.
