OVERVIEW

This is the sophomore effort from American deathcore band Suicide Silence. The music is as one would expect from this genre, heavy and not very melodic.

The energy is pretty intense on this album and while this may not be something that I would choose to listen to on a voluntary basis, it’s not bad. Just pick one song, any song and you have practically heard the whole album.

Overall, it’s an interesting listen. If you’re really into this kind of music, perhaps you can post some other candidates in this genre for us to listen to and become more familiar with this genre.

PLAY BY PLAY

Track 1 – Wake Up
Interesting track. Great use of stop time.

Track 2 –  Lifted
Lots of dissonance in this track. Interesting. Also a few nice melodic moments.

Track 3 – Smoke
Love the energy in this track.

Track 4 – Something Invisible
This one’s like a wall of sound. Too much is sometimes too much.

Track 5 – No Time to Bleed
Interesting track.

Track 6 – Suffer
I could not get into this track. It just didn’t seem to go anywhere.

Track 7 – … And Then She Bled
“What was that?” When a piece is comprised of just a bunch of power chords that repeat and there is dialogue that is extremely hard to follow, the piece is pointless.

Track 8 – Wasted
I can’t really explain why this track bored me.

Track 9 – Your Creations
Mellower and heavy, but has a lot of intensity.

Track 10 – Genocide
I feel like every track on this album sounds almost the same. This is no exception.

Track 11 – Disengage
Blast beats – check. No singing – check. Super heavy wall of sound – check. No dynamics – check.
