OVERVIEW

Lee Ann Womack is one of modern country’s big stars. This is her sixth studio album. The over all tone of this album is mellow.

The songs are pretty, but we would have liked a bit more up tempo material. (If not to spice up the record and give it a bit more colors, then to stop us from being lulled to sleep. Not out of boredom but out of sheer mellowness.)

On another note, the cover art shows a pair of legs which is kinda sexy and wild, but the contents of the album are safe and pretty like a well maintained flower bed. I guess it would be appropriate to call Ms. Womack “crazy” for putting out a CD with a liberal cover but conservative material.

Obviously, Ms. Womack has an incredible voice and the mellow tracks with her vocals up front in the mix are designed to shine the light on her voice. We just wish she would “rip it up” a little and take a walk on the wild side. With this release, Ms. Womack has earned a new name from us: “The Country Balladeer”.

HIGHLIGHTS :

I Found It In You, Solitary Thinkin’, Have You Seen That Girl

PLAY BY PLAY

Track 1 – Last Call
There’s no question that this is a country song. Kinda slow and laid back for a first track.

Track 2 – Either Way
Really mellow.

Track 3 – Solitary Thinkin’
Very cool track. Nice groove.

Track 4 – New Again
Very pretty.

Track 5 – I Found It In You
Mellow but medium tempo. Thank you! This track woke us up.

Track 6 – Have You Seen That Girl
Mellow again. Very nice chord changes! Pretty.

Track 7 – The Bees
Meh. Filler.

Track 8 – I Think I Know
Meh. Filler.

Track 9 – If These Walls Could Talk
Enough with the mellow. Save some for the next album. It’s a pretty song, and would have stood out better if tracks 7 and 8 were not on this album.

Track 10 – Everything But the Quits (Featuring George Strait)
Cute song.

Track 11 – The King Of Broken Hearts
Nice country shuffle. Very good vocals.

Track 12 – The Story Of My Life
Pretty track again, but real mellow.
