OVERVIEW

Ruination is the sophomore full-length effort from American death metallers Job for a Cowboy. This is the first time I’ve heard any of their music.

Words like: high octane, fueled, and brutal, are very befitting here. I was totally blown away by the drum work of John “The Charn” Rice.

Over all, I wish the album had a bit more variation to it. I found it to be very repetitive and compositionally uninteresting for the majority of the record. If you like “cookie monster” vocals, fast drumming, and really heavy guitars, this is probably something you will really enjoy.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Unfurling A Darkened Gospel, Summon the Hounds

PLAY BY PLAY

Track 1 –  Unfurling A Darkened Gospel
Awesome energy!

Track 2 – Summon the Hounds
Very cool riffage! Brutal.

Track 3 – Constitutional Masturbation
Too cluttered. Gets better towards the end.

Track 4 – Regurgitated Disinformation
Cool

Track 5 – March to Global Enslavement
Meh

Track 6 – Butchering the Enlightened
Interesting

Track 7 – Lords of Chaos
Meh

Track 8 – Psychological Immorality
Totally lost interest while listening to this track

Track 9 – To Detonate and Exterminate
Repetitive

Track 10 – Ruination
I was hoping that the title track would have been more powerful.
