OVERVIEW

Hateform are a metal band from Finland. Dominance is their full length debut. It’s kinda like a Lamb of God meets Opeth meets Megadeth. The first track leaves one wondering what kind of metal album this is, but by the time the 2nd track starts, it is very clear just what kind of album this is.

The forte of the band is in the guitar performances. They’re very well done and extremely tight! The drums sit a bit too far back in the mix for our liking.

There is really good energy in this album. It should keep any metalhead interested for a long time.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Bled, Chains, I Won’t Kneel

PLAY BY PLAY

Track 1 – Dominion
This is a mellow instrumental track that leaves one wondering where the “metal” is. It actually works well as it builds tension leading the listener to the slaughter. 😉

Track 2 – As God As
Great track! Well harmonized guitar parts. Very good energy.

Track 3 – Until We Drown
Very good energy again. Really awesome guitar solo here!

Track 4 – Bled
Something about this song grabbed my attention from the start. Very cool riffs.

Track 5 – Sky Cries Blood
This particular track felt like a bit of filler to us. It’s not as interesting as the other tracks so far.

Track 6 – Chains
Awesome riffs! The guitar work is stunning. We just wished the drums and vocals were a bit further in front of the mix than where they are.

Track 7 – Square Zero
Cool track. Interesting rhythmic interplay between the guitars, bass, vocals, and drums in the verses. The solos are amazing again.

Track 8 – I Won’t Kneel
This has “hit” single potential. The vocals are easier to follow here and the chorus is particularly easy to remember.

Track 9 – Less than A Man
Solid. Wow on the guitar solos again!

Track 10 – Tongues Spitting Deception
Perhaps the most energetic song on the entire record! We really liked the opening riff. Awesome stuff.
