OVERVIEW

It’s no secret that Chickenfoot is a supergroup. This album is sonically like an old school hard rock record. It’s been a very long time since I’ve heard new material done like this and done so well. Of course, it is to be expected when the lineup is what it is. It rocks, it’s fun, it’s hard hitting, it’s good, very good!

Sammy Hagar sounds amazing on this record. To anyone who knows Joe Satriani’s guitar work, this is an awesome look at just how good Mr. Satriani is also at rhythm guitar. Chad Smith’s ability to lay down a thick groove is not a secret either unless you’ve never heard of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The thing that makes me extremely happy is the inclusion of Michael Anthony! He is one of rock’s best bassists and an incredibly gifted singer whose background vocals add that touch of awesome that was one of the secret ingredients (and overlooked by most) in Van Halen.

We liked it, go get it and listen to it.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Oh Yeah, Runnin’ Out, My Kinda Girl, Future In The Past

PLAY BY PLAY

Track 1 – Avenida Revolution
This is a big arena, rock groove, type song.  It’s perfect to get the pulse going and the mood set for the rocking ahead.

Track 2 – Soap On A Rope
This is a little bit more funky but it doesn’t loose the rock elements set forth in the first track. I love it whenever artists are able to use stop time effectively.

Track 3 – Sexy Little Thing
This track has some great mojo.

Track 4 – Oh Yeah
I really like this track a lot. The groove is there and and the changes are awesome. All around perfect song.

Track 5 – Runnin’ Out
This song has probably my favorite guitar solo on the entire album. I hate to repeat myself, but I love the groove on this track.

Track 6 – Get It Up
Interesting track. Not my favorite, but it’s different.

Track 7 – Down The Drain
This track is a bit on the repetitive side for me. The bridge is really pretty just before the guitar solo.

Track 8 – My Kinda Girl
Really great backing vocals. This song has a lot of drive. Great track.

Track 9 – Learning To Fall
Cool ballad.

Track 10 – Turning Left
Really cool riff and groove.

Track 11 – Future In The Past
This is such a great song!
