OVERVIEW

This is the eight studio album from Swedish metal band Arch Enemy. The music delivers heavy in spades! One of the things I’m always surprised by when I hear this band is that Angela Gossow is able to growl the way she does. It’s pretty impressive!

I did feel in parts that it got just a bit reptitive. However, the album is packed with lots of great riffs and very good energy. What’s not to like, afterall?

Overall, it’s a very good effort from Arch Enemy.

HIGHLIGHTS :

The Immortal, Demonic Science, Dead Inside, Pilgrim, Bridge of Destiny

PLAY BY PLAY

Track 1 – The Root of All Evil (Intro)
A minute of quiet ambient noise.

Track 2 – Beast Of Man
Cool track. Good energy.

Track 3 – The Immortal
Cool track. Very cool solo.

Track 4 – Diva Satanica
Awesome riffs.

Track 5 – Demonic Science
Awesome riffs again! Good groove to boot. This track kind of reminds me of White Zombie. There are some really pretty moments in this track.

Track 6 – Bury Me an Angel
Brutal!

Track 7 – Dead Inside
Awesome groove!

Track 8 – Dark Insanity
Another fairly brutal track! Yay!

Track 9 – Pilgrim
I really dug this track!

Track 10 – Demoniality
This is an instrumental track. It’s a really heavy track and kind of pointless as it didn’t really have anything to offer thematically.

Track 11 – Transmigration Macabre
I didn’t really dig this track.

Track 12 – Silverwing
Didn’t really dig this one either. There are some really pretty guitar moments though.

Track 13 – Bridge of Destiny
This has a lot of really cool moments. It’s the “epic” of the album, clocking in at just under 8 minutes.
