REVIEW OVERVIEW

While this album is far from a current release, it is truly a gem. This album shows what a true master of the guitar is capable of. The whole album was recorded in one night!

Pat Metheny has been amazing audiences for many decades now and one listen of the tracks on this album show why he is a legend. The album is comprised of mostly original music. Metheny covers a few songs by other artists; most notably, Norah Jones’ hit Don’t Know Why.

This album belongs in the collection of every fan of music, regardless of what you listen to. This is the perfect “mood” music when you just want to have a quiet evening and relax.

HIGHLIGHTS :

One Quiet Night, Don’t Know Why, Over on 4th Street

PLAY BY PLAY REVIEW

Track 1 –  One Quiet Night
Fantastic and emotional! Metheny really knows how to tell a story with his instrument.

Track 2 – Song for the Boys
How is it even possible to play all this on one guitar!?!

Track 3 – Don’t Know Why
What a wonderful rendition of this song!

Track 4 – Another Chance
Sublime! A really mellow and emotional track.

Track 5 – Time Goes On
Beautiful. The arrangement felt a bit long, but it works.

Track 6 –  My Song
This is a very nice track.

Track 7 – Peace Memory
This track was a bit too mellow for me.

Track 8 –  Ferry Cross the Mersey
A really nice rendition of the classic Gerry & The Pacemakers’s track.

Track 9 –  Over on 4th Street
Wonderful!

Track 10 – I Will Find the Way
This track didn’t do much for me, but it is very skillfully played.

Track 11 – North to South, East to West
This is the longest track on the album clocking in at twelve minutes and four seconds. It is again a very skillfully executed track. However, it’s too ambient for my liking.

Track 12 – Last Train Home
Pretty track!
