OVERVIEW

Ms. McBride is a woman who hardly needs an introduction to those of us who listen to country music. However, if you aren’t a fan of country music, you should definitely check out Shine. McBride’s voice is perhaps one of the best in modern country and the material is not the usual overly formulaic Nashville stuff that tends to clutter most of the airwaves these days.

Shine is the tenth studio album of Martina McBride. Overall, it is a good effort. Lots of very likable tracks.

HIGHLIGHTS :

Sunny Side Up, Walk Away, Ride, You’re Not Leaving Me

PLAY BY PLAY

Track 1 – Wrong Baby Wrong Baby Wrong
Neat track. Very nice laid back groove and great arrangement.

Track 2 – I Just Call You Mine
Cool track. I love the idea in the lyric.

Track 3 – Sunny Side Up
Nice uptempo track. Made me smile.

Track 4 – Walk Away
This should have been released as a single. Very strong!

Track 5 – I’m Trying
This is perhaps the weakest track on the album.

Track 6 – What Do I Have To Do
I can’t say what I didn’t like about this track, but something just didn’t feel right about it. Good guitar solo though.

Track 7 – Don’t Cost A Dime
Cool track.

Track 8 – Ride
Very cool track. No wonder it was the lead single.

Track 9 – You’re Not Leaving Me
This track reminds me that this is a country album as the nuances are very” Nashville”, for a lack of a better term. I love it.

Track 10 – Wild Rebel Rose
Cool mellow track.

Track 11 – Lies
I couldn’t bond with this track.
