Artist: Kenny Chesney
Album: Lucky Old Sun (2008 Blue Chair/BNA)
Tracks: 11

OVERVIEW:

This is the twelfth studio album for country star Kenny Chesney. This album is a very solid effort. The songs are pretty and well thought out. This album features some really nice guests like Dave Mathews, The Wailers, Mac McAnally, and Willie Nelson. The album on the whole is very mellow. While the songs are very pretty, I wished there were a few uptempo numbers on this album.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Way Down Here, Ten with a Two, That Lucky Old Sun

PLAY BY PLAY

Track 1 – I’m Alive (with Dave Matthews)
Such a pretty track. However, I thought it was too mellow as an album opener.

Track 2 – Way Down Here
Great track. Very mellow. The sax adds a very nice touch.

Track 3 – Boats
Pretty again.

Track 4 – Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven (featuring The Wailers)
Cool reggae feel in this song.

Track 5 – Down the Road (with Mac McAnally)
This is really pretty and mellow.

Track 6 – Spirit of a Storm
I really wish there was an uptempo song on before this. This is getting to be a bit too much mellow to handle and I’m just half way through the album. Don’t get me wrong, this is a very pretty and nice song. It’s just really challenging to get through this album since every song so far has been slow and mellow.

Track 7 – Ten with a Two
This song should have been at the halfway mark of this album. It has more oomph than the rest of the album. It would make it easier to make it through this otherwise overly mellow album.

Track 8 – The Life
Really mellow and pretty.

Track 9 – Key’s in the Conch Shell
This has kind of a Jimmy Buffet thing happening.

Track 10 – Nowhere to Go, Nowhere to Be
Enough with the mellow already. Pretty song. But it gets lost among the other mellow songs.

Track 11 – That Lucky Old Sun (Just Rolls Around Heaven All Day) (with Willie Nelson)
Very pretty!
